Common Questions

Can I use a different type of cheese instead of provolone?

Yes! If you don’t want to use provolone cheese, American cheese is another great option commonly used on cheesesteak sandwiches. If you don’t like American cheese, you can always use cheddar or even Cheez Whiz, depending on what you like best.

What type of onion should I use?

Yellow onion is a great choice for this casserole. You can also use a Spanish onion. It’s better to use a light-colored onion instead of a red one that has a lot more flavor.

Can I make this casserole with ground turkey?

Yes, if you’re looking for a leaner way to prepare this tasty casserole, you can substitute the ground beef for ground turkey. However, it may not taste the same because the ground beef is a bit greaser, thus having more flavor.

What else can I add to this casserole?

You can add some of your favorite ingredients to this dish, including pickles, relish, cooked bacon, and so much more. Get creative to customize this dish and make it that much more enjoyable.
