The BBC declined to comment on the matter but the MailOnline claimed there is another programme ‘in the can’which has since been scrapped.
Wright was believed to be part of a huge new radio gig, as the BBC announced plans ‘for new, distinctive digital music stations as extensions’ of BBC Radio 1, 2 and 3.
It’s unclear if this project, which was announced the week before his death, is the now ditched programme in question.
Since his Sunday Love Songs was pre-recorded so there has been speculation about another possible episode waiting in the wings but there is no confirmation from Radio 2.
His final aired broadcast was a Valentine’s Day special on Sunday, February 11, in which Wright told fans he would ‘be back next week’.
Wright signed off his final show with his signature ‘Ta-ta then.’
The BBC have set out a scheduling plan for a week of tributes to the star who had been on the air since the 1970s.
On Friday, February 16, BBC Four will dedicate an evening to throwback episodes of Top of the Pops from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Episodes with music from the likes of Whitney Houston, AC/DC,and Queen, spanning the 80s and all featuring Wright will air over the hour and a half block.
Sunday Love Songs will air again on Sunday with Liza Tarbuck presenting a special episode, paying tribute to Wright and with dedications from his listeners.
On BBC Sounds now there is a collection of Wright’s work for listeners to dive into, including Tell It To Steve episodes and the Peter Kay Christmas special.
