Welcome to Avon High School, Home of the Orioles!
I'm Matt Shockley, the proud Principal of Avon High School.
“We are Avon, We are One!” This phrase is our rally cry that speaks to who we are. Avon High School is home to a diverseschool community of over 3,300 students which includes over 50 nationalities. Although we may be different in a variety of ways, we all belong here and respect our differences. Educators, students, and parents are united in fulfilling our school mission – Inspired Students. Engaged Learners. Empowered Citizens.
Our size is considered one of our greatest assets. We offer over 300 courses that encompass a wide range of curricular offerings to meet students’ academic needs and future goals. Our school is partnered with Area 31 Career Center which provides multiple career and technical pathways leading to industry credentials and college credit. Students can also find their niche and pursue their interests by participating in many extracurricular activities through the performing arts, clubs and service organizations, academic teams, robotics, and athletics. Our school is fortunate to have students consistently excel inside and outside of the classroom and regularly achieve local, state, and national recognition.
Our success does not happen by chance. People make the difference. Our staff sets high expectations but also creates an environment where students know they are safe, welcomed, and cared for during their educational journey with us.Our parents are engaged and concerned about their student’s academic progress. They expect high-quality teaching and learning and want to see all of our school programs achieve success.
I am proud to be an Oriole and call Avon my home. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
