Hungry Girl Goes…in Search of Guilt-Free Cereal! (2024)

1. Fiber One Bran Cereal, Original
With 60 calories and 14 grams of fiber per half-cup, this bran cereal is one of my all-time faves. I eat it straight out of the box as a snack, with Almond Breeze and Splenda for breakfast, and as a crunchy topping for my oatmeal. It's also awesome for baking and faux frying, as it adds tons of fiber and heartiness to recipes without adding lots of calories. Fiber One, you rock!

A ½-cup serving has 60 calories, 1 gram of fat, 14 grams of fiber and a POINTS® value of less than 1.

2. Kashi Honey Sunshine Cereal
This stuff is like a less sugary Cap'n Crunch (that won't cut the roof of your mouth!). They're crunchy, sweet little pillows of deliciousness. So good! Try crushing some and mixing it into your oatmeal. Mmmmm!

A ¾-cup serving has 100 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 6 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 1.

3. Kashi Vive Probiotic Digestive Wellness Cereal
Forget all the digestive mumbo jumbo. This cereal rocks. Yes, it’s crammed with an insane amount of fiber (12 grams per serving), and it contains those probiotics (friendly bacteria) that promote digestive balance and immunity. But honestly, the real reason I love this stuff is because of how delicious it tastes! There are like a zillion different tastes and textures in every bite: cinnamon, graham, vanilla, crunchiness, puffiness, flakiness…wow! Also, the 1 1/4-cup serving size is bigger than most cereal servings, so you really get your calories’ worth.

A 1 ¼-cup serving has 170 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 12 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 3.

4. Special K Cinnamon Pecan Cereal
Special K has given birth to yet another bouncing (and crunchy) baby. Their Cinnamon Pecan cereal is a combo of cinnamon-flavored flakes and real pecans. Completely awesome...two yums up!!!

A ¾-cup serving has 120 calories, 2 grams of fat, 1 gram of fiber and a POINTS value of 2.

5. Amy's Multi-Grain Hot Cereal Bowl
I typically don't do backflips over hot cereal, because I usually don't find the portion sizes satisfying enough. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I tried this breakfast bowl from Amy's. The cereal is delicious, the portion size is pretty big and it’s definitely satisfying enough for breakfast. This bowl is a great way to get a hot breakfast in at home or at the office. And the nutritionals are right on target, too—5 grams of fiber! Nice work, Amy.

One bowl has 190 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 5 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 3.

6. Kellogg's Rice Krispies with Real Strawberries
There's something about Rice Krispies with Real Strawberries that I love. Maybe it reminds me of my childhood. Maybe it's the way the cereal "talks" when you pour milk over it (I even talk back to it... "Who's delicious? You are!"). Whatever the case may be, I really dig this cereal. It's light, fun to chew, and the pieces of tart dried strawberries are incredible! So glad Snap! Crackle! & Pop! have created this stuff. Good work, guys!

One cup has 110 calories, 0 grams of fat, 0 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 2.

7. Puffed Wheat Cereal
Looking to make your cereal bowl fuller, puffier and more satisfying? Even if you don't like it straight, spiking your favorite cereal with puffed wheat will add major bulk to your cereal bowl for hardly any calories. An entire cup of most plain puffed cereal has only around 50 fat-free calories, so feel free to try puffed corn, puffed rice and other puffed stuff, too!

One cup has 50 calories, 0 grams of fat, 1 to 2 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 1.

8. Kellogg's Cereal Grab ‘N Go Packs
If you still love sugary cereals as much as you did when you were a kid, but you're afraid you'll down an entire box in one sitting, these portion-controlled pouches might interest you. Available in Froot Loops, Corn Pops and Frosted Flakes. I like to toss handfuls of these onto my fat-free yogurt. Mmmmm!

One pouch has 70 to 90 calories, 0 to 0.5 grams of fat, 0 to less than 1 grams of fiber and a POINTS value of 1 to 2.
